Located on the northern part of mainland Papua New Guinea is Madang Province dubbed as 'The most beautiful province of the country'. The Province also includes the offshore volcanic
islands of Manam, Karkar, Long and Bagabag.
Madang province has a total area of 94,000 square kilometres with a land mass of 30,000 square kilometres. It consists of six districts namely, Rai Coast, Madang, Sumkar, Bogia, Usino
Bundi and Middle Ramu.
The Province has a typical hot and wet tropical climate, with cooler temperatures in its central and coastal mountain systems. Madang has a temperature range between 25 and 30 degrees
centigrade. Benefiting from light sea breezes, Madang has a relatively low humidity in the afternoons.
Madang's population is a little over 300,000 with a small expatriate community of 3,000.

barracuda, marlin, yellow fin and wahoo within 100 metres of the shore, particularly off the waters around Karkar and Bagabag islands.
