MESSAGE FROM THE INTERNATIONAL GAME FISHING ASSOCIATION
On behalf of John Lau, your other PNG based IGFA representative, and the IGFA, welcome to all to the 30th National Game Fishing Titles in beautiful Madang.
This year’s event will again be a qualifier for the IGFA’s Tournament of Champions and will aslo be a qualifier for the Junior Champion’s Tournament. Discounted membership to the IGFA will also be offered to new members signed up at the Titles.
There were eight world records awarded to Shane Robinson during 2004, and one Small Fry Record to Sam Seghers - both junior anglers from Madang. Boroko Sports Fishing Club members have lodged two applications for Black Bass records.
It was interesting to note that the biggest Marlin, Dogtooth Tuna and Mackerel came from Madang waters in 2004 - just an indication of the fishing we can all look forward to.
The GFA’s new Titles Tournament fishing rules continue to evolve towards encouraging tagging, particularly billfish, which is very positive and supported by the IGFA.
Please enjoy your stay in Madang and tight lines to all.
Robert K. O’Dea
IGFA International Representative.
